Pewaukee School District Provides Update Following Two Days of Precautionary Safety Measures

Events occurred during the mornings of April 10th and 11th, 2025.

Pewaukee, WI - Over the past two days, the Pewaukee School District implemented precautionary safety protocols in coordination with the Pewaukee Village Police Department following student-reported comments of concern.

On Thursday, April 10, all PSD schools were placed in a Secure Hold at approximately 10:30 a.m. after a comment was overheard and reported by students. Staff and students remained safely in classrooms while the matter was thoroughly investigated. The hold was lifted at 11:19 a.m.

On Friday, April 11, Asa Clark Middle School and Pewaukee High School were again placed in a Secure Hold at 10:45 a.m. as additional related comments were reviewed. Pewaukee Lake and Horizon Elementary were placed in Secure status, which locked exterior doors but allowed learning to continue indoors. All safety measures were lifted at 11:25 a.m. following a full review.

Superintendent Dr. Mike Cady praised the students who spoke up and reminded families of the seriousness of such comments:

“The situations we experienced were the result of comments overheard and responsibly reported by students. I thank them for their good citizenship… I also want to thank our staff, SROs, and the Village PD for their outstanding professionalism and support. While we regret any stress these events may have caused, we will always err on the side of caution when it comes to safety.”
