Pewaukee, WI - The Pewaukee School District is pleased to announce Jane Matter and Emily Hansen as the new Co-Assoicate Principals at Pewaukee High School succeeding Paul Bursi who transitioned to Asa Clark Middle School’s Associate Principal for the 2024-25 school year.

With a Bachelors in Secondary English and Language from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Learning from Carroll University, Jane Matter’s extensive background includes a total of 13 years of teaching experience, interdisciplinary background, and special education. Most recently, as an English teacher at Pewaukee High School, Jane’s work extended beyond the classroom with her development of “Pirate Preview Day” for incoming freshmen, the PHS MentorSHIP program, and assistance with wrestling and track and field events. With the support of her husband, Sam and daughters, Quinn (5) and Greta (7), Mrs. Matter will begin her role as Associate Principal for the 2024-2025 school year.

I am so fortunate to continue learning from the phenomenal students and staff at Pewaukee high school. The opportunity to lead within such a fundamentally successful and purpose-driven system that cares immensely about staff and student success is something which greatly excites me,” said Matter. “I will strive every day to continue to ensure that students, staff, and community members feel happy, safe, and excited to be part of the Pewaukee school community.”

Brian Sniff, Principal of Pewaukee HIgh School, said: “Jane has served as a strong teacher leader in her role as an English teacher at Pewaukee High School so we are very excited to see her flourish in this new leadership role!”

The Pewaukee High School Dean of Students role, previously held by Emily Hansen, will transition to become a second Associate Principal, working alongside Matter. Hansen will transition to this role also for the 2024-25 school year.

“I am extremely excited to continue to grow as a leader at Pewaukee High School,” said Hansen. “I look forward to working closely with staff, supporting them with their goals and growth, while also keeping expectations high for students.”

Dr. Mike Cady, Superintendent of Pewaukee Schools, said: “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to advance two outstanding leaders within our system with the promotion of Ms. Hansen and the selection of Ms. Matter as Associate Principals.  The move to two Associate Principal roles, along with elimination of the Dean of Students role, will allow the high school more flexibility with the assignment of administrative duties.”

Pewaukee School District is a public 4K-12 district offering an award-winning, future-ready education to over 3,000 students on a unique, single-campus setting. We are passionately committed to our mission to open the door to each child’s future.
